It's Personal

September 17, 2007

For Chappy Dave, the volunteers that give their time to serving God with MOTE, and for the people that whose lives are being transformed, it is serious, and IT IS PERSONAL!

Every week, Chappy Dave, and dozens of volunteers take time out of their busy schedule to travel down to La Mesa Prison in Tijuana Mexico and minister to the American men and women in prison. "It is a cold, hardcore place, and these people have desperate needs both spiritually and physically. These brothers and sisters are in desperate need of spiritual renewal, encouragement, and prayer, as well as some very basic needs that many of us take for granted like Bibles, soap, toilet paper, blankets, etc." says Chappy.

A Personal Testimony
We were blessed to receive the following testimony from Eric, who arrived at La Mesa Prison two years ago and now is a transformed man full of the Holy Spirit.

"When I first got here to La Mesa Prison in November 2005, I entered a cold, crowded cell. I had nothing. Nights were very cold. I heard about a pastor from the U.S. that helps Americans. I sent a note. I was sent an English Bible, a much needed blanket, toilet paper, soap, and a phone card to call my family. I want you guys to know that, without your efforts, I’m not sure I would have been able to find an English Bible. I want you to know that because of your efforts, I was baptized here by Pastor Dave and I’m experiencing a very personal relationship with our Lord Jesus. I’ve been learning a lot through study material provided by you guys and I’m encouraged weekly.

Seriously, your efforts have changed my life and a lot of other men around me. It’s pretty hardcore, really, considering the eternal gifts from our Lord we are receiving.

I just want you to know that from the bottom of my heart that your efforts are doing great things in us through the Holy Spirit.

God bless you all,

Eric"

A Personal Commitment
The note from Eric was received just days before we held a Baptism service at La Mesa in August where nine men made a personal and public commitment to Jesus and were baptized.

The Story Continues
This story does not stop here. Our ministry at La Mesa Prison, and now Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic continues because of your commitment to prayer, your time, and through your financial support.

Here are a few things that we have have been able to purchase with your financial gifts. THANK YOU!

  • Supplied medicine and hygiene supplies for inmates at La Mesa Prison.

  • Supplied over 120 mats for men and women at La Mesa Prison.

  • Provided supplies and food for the August 4th Baptism service at La Mesa Prison.

  • Supplied computers to pastoral leadership in the Dominican Republic. Praise God, now they are up on email and communicating with us.

  • Supplied a microphone for prison evangelism events and church services in the Dominican Republic.

  • Supplied  a 30’ x 60’ tarp for church building in the Dominican Republic.

Our ministry in the Dominican Republic is growing rapidly. In November, Chappy will be returning the Dominican Republic to meet with prison officials and pastoral leadership and continue our Workshops and Training program. A prayer letter and report on the subject is forthcoming. In the meantime we ask you to continue to lift our ministry to the Lord in prayer. We also invite you to consider partnering with us financially and help change our world by transforming the lives of those in prison. You can give through our website at http://www.mote.ws/donation.htm or by sending a check to MOTE, Inc., 17150 Via del Campo Court, Suite 102, San Diego, California  92127.
