November 3, 2007 We have just learned that the prison at Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, was hit hard by Hurricane Noel. Five feet of rain was dropped on the prison, covering all doorways and windows and flooding out the fourteen “tent” congregations there. The inmates scrambled to the roof for safety. Several inmates tried to jump into the water to escape prison. As we were talking with Tony, our interpreter, the SWAT team came into the area and began shooting at the prisoners. Amid gunshots, Tony asked us to please help with bottled water to drink and charcoal to use as fuel to keep warm. They are planning to cook out-side the prison and bring in the food to the inmates. Can you come alongside MOTE and ANDIP (Asociacion Racional de Iglesias Penintenciarias) with our local pastors in the Dominican Republic with a financial support?
